Programming

Q: “What programming is available with DISH Network?”
A: DISH Network offers hundreds of channels, including sports, movies, entertainment and specialty programming, in addition to local channels.

Q: “What is the difference between DirecTV and DISH Network?”
A: Value. DISH Network and DirecTV provide essentially the same product – satellite TV. However, DISH Network typically saves customers money of similar DirecTV packages. DISH Network also has the highest rated customer satisfaction and more satellites.

Q: “Can I switch from DIRECTV to DISH Network?”
A: Of course! We always welcome new customers to the DISH Network family.

Q: “Do we need an antenna for local channels?”
A: No. If local channels are available in your area, you will only need the standard satellite dish that comes with your DISH Network installation.

Q: “Can I get only international programming?”
A: Yes, you can purchase international programming services only. Along with the cost of the international programming, there is a $5.00 monthly charge. This is an access fee, as it does cost more to rebroadcast the international channels. This fee is waived if you purchase one of our basic programming packages.

Q: “What Spanish language programming is available?”
A: DISH Latino – Basic package with 35 channels
DISH Latino Dos – An excellent value package with 35 Spanish-language channels and more than 150 English-language channels with local channels (where available)
DISH Latino MAX – DISH Latino and DISH Latino Dos are included so you will have maximum viewing value with 35 Spanish-language channels and more than 195 English-language channels


Q: “What about High Definition (HD) programming?”
A: DISH Network has over 150 HD channels available – with many more on the way!

Q: “Can I get my local channels, and are they free?”
A: Local channels can be received in approximately 95% of U.S. households for only $5.00 per month. The local affiliates have the rights for these channels, and DISH Network must pay the local providers to have them transmitted through the network in 100% digital quality picture and sound.

Installation

Q: “Where will the DISH be installed at my home?”
A: A professional DISH Network installer will determine the best location for a satellite DISH based upon finding the lowest level of signal interference possible.

Q: “If I have more than one TV setup, do I still pay only one monthly service price?”
A: In most cases, yes. You pay only one price for your channel packages no matter how many TVs are connected to your DISH Network system. There may be an additional cost for multiple receivers, depending on your system configuration. Q: “Do I have to pay for installation?”
A: No, DISH Network Standard Professional Installation is 100% FREE and includes equipment for up to 6 rooms.

Q: “If I already have a dish on my home, can I use the existing one?”
A: In order to provide the best possible reception, a DISH Network technician will install new equipment on your home at no charge. You receive a new satellite dish and free standard professional installation.

Q: “Will wiring be installed in my house just like the cable company does?”
A: Yes. Most DISH Network installations will be completed with new, high quality cabling for the clearest digital picture on your TV.

Q: “Can my service be installed using my existing cable jack outlets in my wall?”
A: If the existing cable jack outlet and wiring is of sufficient quality, the installers may be able to provide DISH Network service through it.

Q: “Will it cost to add an additional television to my package?”
A: Depending on what type of receiver(s) your system requires, there may or may not be an additional cost. This will be determined at the time of installation. Or you can call (800) 554-0068 to discuss your particular set-up.

Equipment

Q: “What is a DVR (Digital Video Recorder)?”
A: A DVR is a device that records television data in digital format. Your DISH Network DVR will allow you to:
-Pause live TV at anytime
-Skip through commercials on recorded programs
-Seamlessly record hours of programming, from sitcoms to feature-length films, and even live sporting events.


Q: “Is the cost of the receiver and DVR included in my monthly fee?”
A: For all standard installations, the cost of the receiver is included. For DVR systems, each receiver is $6.00 per month. Special receiver configurations may incur additional monthly fees. **Call 1-800-592-0306 to find out about special offers.

Q: “Is the satellite dish large and unsightly?”
A: While satellites used to be huge (eight or more feet wide), today’s technology allows for smaller satellites – some as small as 18 inches. DISH Network uses these smaller satellites and places them on the side of the house, deck, or other out-of-the-way locations.

Q: “Does the signal cut out when the weather is bad?”
A: DISH Network uses an advanced Teflon coating to help prevent against signal failure. If there is a signal problem, DISH Network will move quickly to solve the problem.

Q: “Is the signal fuzzy?”
A: Not at all. In most cases DISH Network customers actually receive much better reception than cable customers because the signal is extracted directly from the satellite, rather than being funneled through miles of cable. The picture is crisp and clear – almost as if you were watching it in person.

Q: “Can I watch separate programming on two TVs with a single DISH Network TV receiver?”
A: Yes. You can order a dual-room receiver that can provide programming to two televisions at once, and different channels can be watched on each separate television.
